Caganer La Grossa

The New Year's Eve draw of the Gorda Lottery takes place every December 31st and has almost become a cultural event, so deeply ingrained in the last day of the year. A drum with five sections contains 50 balls, 10 in each section, numbered from 0 to 9. Then, children, accompanied by a characteristic chant, randomly draw 5 balls from the drum, one from each section, forming the winning number. All proceeds go to social programs in Catalonia.
