Product details
The Caramellaire sings the caramelles, popular songs typical of Old Catalonia and northern New Catalonia, sung at Easter to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. The caramellaires are groups of children or adults who go out to sing from houses and cottages on Holy Saturday at dusk or on Easter Sunday and Monday mornings. They accompany themselves on various instruments and collect eggs and money from people to prepare a communal meal at the end of the route. Some varieties also include a dance between songs.
