Caganer Avi del Barça

This character, created by cartoonist Valentí Castanys, personifies FC Barcelona in the same way that Uncle Sam represents the United States. He made his first appearance on October 29, 1924, in the magazine Xut! and has been brought to life since 1984 by Joan Casals, a member of the Guardiola Azulgrana Supporters' Club in Berguedà. He dresses in the same way that Barça's Avi has traditionally dressed: in shirts from the 1960s and 1970s and vintage trousers. He also wears the traditional barretina (beret).
